Today’s the day for Summerville’s annual Christmas parade. Stop by the shop for some coffee or hot cocoa (complete with marshmallows and whip cream if you like) and join us to celebrate the spirit of the season!
The parade begins at 2 p.m. – arrive early and grab one our chairs for a front row view!
Thanks to the Authors
Our thanks to Jewel Sweeney, Terri Barnes and Melinda Long for joining us Saturday at Main Street Reads. If you couldn’t be there, we have signed copies of each of their books at the store! On Thursday, author James Masciarelli was on hand to sign his novel, Beyond Beauport; we have signed copies of his modern-day pirate adventure as well.
Thanks too to everyone who participated in Tuesday’s tree lighting on the square and the live window displays in all the shops. A beautiful night and we had fun dressing up as the March family from “Little Women.” (Our little women are pictured above)
Coming Up THIS Week!
Here’s a look at this week’s lineup:
Monday – Writers Group! Just two more this year. Main Street Writes will meet on December 9th and December 16th, then take a holiday break until January 6, 2020.
Friday – Story Time! Come join Colleen and other neighborhood moms and tots for storytime. Cider, juice and fruit snacks provided!
Saturday – A Special “In Conversation With” between award-winning author J.C. Sasser and Benjamin Alexander, editor for the new book of unpublished letters from Flannery O’Connor.
On December 14, JC Sasser, author of the wildly popular 2018 Southern Fiction winning Gradle Bird, and Ben Alexander, editor of Good Things Out of Nazareth, a much-anticipated collection of many of Flannery O’Connor’s unpublished letters, will be at Main Street Reads to discuss brilliant southern fiction and the great lady herself.
Flannery O’Connor is a master of twentieth-century American fiction, joining, since her untimely death in 1964, the likes of Hawthorne, Hemingway, and Faulkner. Those familiar with her work know that her powerful ethical vision was rooted in a quiet, devout faith and informed all she wrote and did.
This special event takes place between 2 and 5 p.m. — The spirited discussion will begin promptly at 3 p.m. and refreshments will be served! Following their conversation, JC and Ben will take questions from the audience. LEARN MORE HERE!
Sunday – Booksigning with Alison Holley! On Sunday, December 15, we’ll proudly host Summerville native Alison Holley, celebrating the release of her debut novel, Prayers of an Adoptee. This event takes place from noon until 2 p.m. – CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS!
