Tree Lighting, Little Women, and Pirates This Week!

Okay, we’ll get to the pirates in a moment – but first a shout-out to an elegant lady and author (decidedly NOT a pirate) who joined us yesterday for her booksigning. Thank you, Priscilla Garatti (pictured above). And thanks to those who braved the icky weather to join us. As always, we’ve kept behind signed copies for those of you who couldn’t attend!

Pirates!

Pirates? Well, yes! Massachusetts author Jame Masciarelli is heading down the east coast from Gloucester, and stopping at Main Street Reads on his way down to winter in Florida. His seriously fun pirate adventure, Beyond Beauport, delves into some really cool pirate history (including famed female pirate Ann Bonny in Charleston!) The book, available to be signed, features a modern-day female seafarer and her crusty sailor uncle… it’s an adventure not to be missed!

That event takes place on Thursday, December 5, from 5-7, so come by for a book and a bit of grog! Full event details HERE!

Then, on Saturday, Melinda Long, NYT bestselling author of How I Became a Pirate and Pirates Don’t Change Diapers will be here, signing these as well as her Twelve Days of South Carolina Christmas!

Tree Lighting and Little Women

Tuesday-December 3rd, join us and others around the square for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting AND Live Window Displays in several of the shops, including Main Street Reads! We’ll be celebrating a “Little Women” Christmas in the window, a scene right out of Louisa May Alcott’s famed books. So please, give our window a look-see and vote for us if you like it…

Here’s the evening’s lineup:

  • 5:00-8:00 Live Windows and voting
  • 6:00-6:30 Pre-Program Music
  • 6:30-6:55 Tree Lighting Program (approx 6:55 Tree Lights are turned on by countdown of the Mayor)
  • 7:00-8:30 Santa will be at the Bandstand for photos

Book Signing Saturday – Free Gift Wrapping Too!

On Saturday we’ll have THREE authors signing – click on the images below for details:

Christmas Parade Sunday!

Like those TV commercials shout, “But wait, there’s more!” Because on Sunday, December 8th at 2 p.m. it’s the SUMMERVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE – and it’ll go right by Main Street Reads, so we’ll put out all the chairs we have (but suggest you get here early to grab yours!)

And Don’t Forget…

Writers Group at 6:30 on Monday night, children’s Story Time on Friday at 10:30 a.m. — See you here!
