Treason. Espionage. Revenge. In the aftermath of WWII, ex-intelligence agent Tore Haugland tries to adjust to life in his newly freed country with the woman he loves. But he still has to testify against a Norwegian traitor — one of the monsters of the German occupation — whom he helped to capture. When mysterious notes threaten Haugland and his family, he must choose between protecting them or bringing to justice the man who tortured him and destroyed the village that hid him.
Challenged by injuries and recurring nightmares, he will have to rely on his former training and old Resistance friends to rescue his wife from the traitor who will do anything to keep Haugland from testifying.
Two Big Saturday Signings!
On Saturday, JE Thompson will be here to sign BUCCANEER’S SPIT: A RACE FOR THE TREASURE, an exciting middle-grade novel about two young people trying to keep a pristine and beautiful spit of land out of the hands of an unscrupulous developer.
The book offers lots of information about environmentalism, conservation and nature. It’s full of sea turtles, porpoises, red knots, alligators and other creatures, with a bit of pirate treasure thrown in, of course!
What we found most compelling: Because one of the main characters suffers from dyslexia, the book has been printed in OpenDyslexic typeface, so that all readers can enjoy it. Cool, right?
And ALSO joining us will be Sherman Carmichael with UNEXPLAINED SOUTH CAROLINA after not being able to attend last Saturday due to hazardous conditions in the upstate, where he’ll be arriving from this week instead!
Sherman Carmichael, a native of Hemingway, South Carolina, has been dabbling in things that are best left alone–like ghosts, UFOs, monsters and other strange and unusual things–since he was seventeen. Carmichael’s previous books –Forgotten Tales of South Carolina, Legends and Lore of South Carolina, Eerie South Carolina, UFOs Over South Carolina, Strange South Carolina, and Mysterious South Carolina– center on ghosts and the strange and unusual as well as hovering objects and strange lights in the sky.
Copies are available at the store now of BOTH authors’ amazing books – and we look forward to introducing you to Sherman and John on Saturday!
‘Til we meet again, cozy up with a good book and stay warm!
