The Best Laid Plans of Bookstores and...

Well, it’s been an interesting beginning to 2022. Our January 15th author had to reschedule due to Covid (thankfully she’s now all fine and will be here February 12th. Then, Third Thursday was cancelled for the whole square due to generally yucky weather.

And of course the weather fared no better yesterday when we were scheduled to host Sherman Carmichael’s debut of Unexplained South Carolina. Sherman was meant to come down from the upstate but that did NOT look like a safe option…

Men plan, God laughs, eh?

Ah well. If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that when the you-know-what hits the fan, we don’t bother to wallow. We mutter a few expletives, take a giant gulp of coffee (I’d say wine, but no time for wine this week) and soldier on. HAPPILY, Sherman had a hole in his schedule for this Saturday and so the books are here, you can grab a copy any time between now and then at the special 10% off event price, and come back to meet him and get your book signed on Saturday…

Also on Saturday, JE Thompson will be here to sign BUCCANEER’S SPIT: A RACE FOR THE TREASURE, an exciting middle-grade novel about two young people trying to keep a pristine and beautiful spit of land out of the hands of an unscrupulous developer.

The book offers lots of information about environmentalism, conservation and nature. It’s full of sea turtles, porpoises, red knots, alligators and other creatures, with a bit of pirate treasure thrown in, of course!

What we found most compelling: Because one of the main characters suffers from dyslexia, the book has been printed in OpenDyslexic typeface, so that all readers can enjoy it. Cool, right?
