Celebrating Differences and Diversity
It was a fantastic Saturday at Main Street Reads, beginning with a Stories on the Square Saturday edition featuring authors Chris Singleton and Marybeth Wishart, (Different and Parker the Purple Penguin) and winding up with Josie Olsvig (Gullah Tears and Growing Up Gullah in the Lowcountry).
Our wonderful resident storyteller Colleen Rackleff was on hand to read both books aloud to gathered youngsters and parents, followed by a book signing with both authors and lots of treats for our young reader community.
We’ve set aside signed copies of these special and diverse books if you weren’t lucky enough to join us; stop by and grab your copy!
And a heartfelt “thank you” to EVERYONE who attended and participated today, reminding us all what a wonderful community Summerville is when we work and play and read… together.
Main Street Reads in the News
Besides all the wonderful press we received about our weekend events (like Live 5 News’ Children’s event debuts books about acceptance and diversity), we were delighted that local author (Spouse Calls) and Believe in Your Shelf VIP member Terri Barnes included us in a national piece she wrote recently for Books Make a Difference. Check out the wonderful article at Indie Bookstores: Pandemic Adds Plot Twist to Comeback Story. Thank you, Terri!
Coming UP Next!
As you get a look at the books and events being featured this week, a reminder that BOOKS AND A BROWNIE IS BAAAACK! Buy a book, grab a carefully baked and carefully wrapped brownie, made special for you by Eva’s on Main… Yum!
