Saturday Popup Signing – Let’s Talk Education Reform!
University of Texas at San Antonio economics professor Dr. John D. Merrifield is in town and will be at Main Street Reads to discuss his recent release, School System Reform: How and Why is a Price-less Tale.
Merrifield’s book identifies root causes of persistently disappointing classroom outcomes, identifies the policy root causes of the classroom causes of our Nation at Risk, persistently low school system performance, and then lays out a strategy for identifying the key elements of a high-performing school system, and achieving their implementation.
Teachers and parents will find this discussion particularly interesting. Dr. Merrifield will be at the store from 4 – 6 p.m. this Saturday, January 25th.
Tuesday Bookclub: Gradle Bird!
Our first book club get-together of 2020 – OPEN TO ALL – will be a discussion of a fan favorite at Main Street Reads, Gradle Bird, the southern book prize winner from talented and witty Edisto-based author JC Sasser! The book has garnered accolades nationwide, and we’re thrilled to finally have a conversation around this book with readers.
Even better, JC Sasser will join us for the talk! We’ll provide refreshments – bring your own hooch and spaghetti-o’s (if you’ve read the book, you’ll know what that means! If you haven’t read Gradle Bird yet, grab a copy – we still have a few on hand – and get ready for an evening of spirited discussion and yes, a bit of hilarity! LEARN MORE HERE
