Fight Book Bans

Join PEN America for a virtual teach-in on fighting book bans in schools on Wednesday, December 15, from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm ET. The nationwide teach-in is geared towards students. Young people are encouraged to come learn from a range of experts, authors, and student activists, including authors Neil Gaiman and George M. Johnson.

American Bookseller’s Association CEO Allison Hill said, “The rise in organized censorship of books is gravely concerning as it impacts the rights of young people to choose what they read, their ability to see themselves in the stories that they read, and their education. ABA is proud to be part of the community defending the First Amendment rights of young people.”

Deals and Deadlines

With the holidays come logistical challenges so we want to make you aware of a few things that will hopefully make your gift gathering easier this year!

Orders going forward must be pre-paid: The simple fact is, we’re running out of space and pre-paying encourages faster pickup and quicker reshelving or storing should a book be “abandoned” by its prospective owner. If you’ve ordered books already and haven’t yet come to get them – PLEASE do, and thank you for helping us out with that.

Deadlines for orders to arrive before holidays: Distributors are working fast and furious to get books our way and yours. So far they’re doing a fantastic job. We’ll absolutely tell you if an item is on backorder in case you need to choose another, but please keep in mind that December 10th is our “safe date” to ensure your books arrive before Christmas. After that you know we’ll try our best, but don’t delay – order early! (It’s less stressful, right?)

Holiday catalogs have arrived! You’ll see a “December 10th” deadline on there – ignore it and we will, too, until December 31st, 2021. Note: The coupons are eligible for storewide purchases, not just what’s shown in catalog.
