Before we get into some fun numbers this sunny day (finally), our number ONE is to ask, are y’all safe and warm? Wish we had an official number on gallons of water dripped to keep faucets running, yikes!
The big number seems to be TWO – Two days most of us were stuck inside. Two days of school closings that became three with continued iced roads and road closures. Two days of not getting out on those mostly closed roads. And two sad days most businesses had to remain closed, including Main Street Reads.
And yet, let’s face it folks; it’s only a blip in light of what Mother Nature has cost our country these past weeks. Our thoughts continue to go out to those in fire and storm-ravaged areas. Put in perspective, holing up at home in front of a cozy fireplace or space heater, with a good book, is a luxury in comparison…
Summerville Book Fest: By the Numbers

THE “WHY SUMMERVILLE” CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION
There’s still time (postmark deadline Jan 27) to enter the Why Summerville Creative Writing Competition, sponsored by The Summerville Journal Scene! With adult and young writer categories in Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry, this is your chance to shine!
Cash prizes for winners, who will be introduced on Hutchinson Square at the festival, immediately following the Stories on the Square Children’s Stage programming. You can then also meet the winners at the Summerville Journal Scene building, as well as tour the newspaper offices and view their archives!
