Before we get into what’s coming up, a big THANK YOU for a fabulous Sweet Tea Festival Saturday! Our crew had a great time with our signing authors Bob Spearman and Vince Burruano, and it was amazing to see so many readers sharing in the town’s festivities. We’re loving the pics you’ve been sending of y’all in and around the square. Just another reason we love Summerville!
On Tuesday, our “Living Large” bestsellers club will be discussing The Connellys of County Down by Tracey Lange. We can expect a lot of discussion around when it’s cool (and not so cool) to keep those big family secrets. Hope to see y’all there – you bring your great ideas, we’ll bring the treats!
On Thursday, some of our Main Street Reads team will be hanging out the Old Town Hall at 4 pm for a discussion and book signing by Margaret Eastman and Bob Stockton about their fascinating read, Broad Street and Beyond: Charleston’s Historic Nexus of Power.
This book celebrates Charleston’s distinctive history, culture, and charm. It is a collection of true stories centered on, though not confined to, Broad Street, unquestionably Charleston’s most historic thoroughfare. Broad Street has served as the heartbeat of historic Charleston since the city’s start on the peninsula in the 1670s.
This event IS open to the public – we invite you to stop by and learn some fascinating local facts. The Old Town Hall address is 201 W Carolina Ave, Summerville, SC 29483. Hope to see you there!
Oh – and if you haven’t yet grabbed your copy of Godkiller by Hannah Kaner at the 10% off book club discount – pick one up soon; Fab Fantasy Book Club takes place a week from This Thursday. Pretty sure this one is my favorite cover of all the selections so far – gorgeous, right?!
You’ll enter a land of gods and monsters, soldiers and mercenaries, secrets and wishes in this explosive #1 internationally bestselling fantasy debut that’s book one of new trilogy for fans of The Witcher and Gideon the Ninth.
BANNED BOOKS Week Begins October 1st!
Banned Books Week is easily one of our favorite weeks of each year. We’ll have plenty of banned books on hand for you to peruse, and you can learn more about them and why they’re being banned or challenged (some of the reasons are pretty outlandish!). Come join the conversation and celebrate the freedom to read 🙂
Meanwhile, check out this list on our shop site – these are favorite banned and challenged books this year – how many have YOU read? Click below!
And now, here’s a look at what’s coming up on Main Street (and our road trip to Bluffton this Saturday!) — We’ll see y’all soon!
