Happy Halloween Y'All! - Main Street Reads

There’s just something about Halloween… kids trick or treating, cooler fall weather setting in, the smell of cider and cinnamon, tons of new fall reads… it’s invigorating! It’s also that last holiday before November (the new December) and we’re already seeing folks get busy shopping for all their loved ones.

But first, celebrate yourself a little! Join us this afternoon for a splash of cider and 10% off storewide sales. Costumes are encouraged (but not required!) and we’ll have some sweet treats on hand, too. PLUS, because it’s FUN – we’re raffling off a $20 gift card every 15 minutes, beginning at 2:15 p.m. until the party ends at 4. Tix are free, just show up with a smile on your face (or mask) and ready to drool over a book or two…

The Holiday Catalog is out (grab your printed copy at the store – it includes a gift coupon from us for instore purchases). This is by no means a complete list of recommended reads, but it’ll get you started. We’ve uploaded them all to our online site too, so if you’d rather let your fingers do the walking, READ ON!

Nominate Your Favorite Bookseller

If you’ve discovered a new writer or a new favorite book with the help of one of us, you can return the favor by nominating one for the James Patterson Holiday Bookstore Bonus Program.

Patterson has pledged a personal contribution of $250,000, to be distributed in amounts of $500, to 500 booksellers around the country! Booksellers can be nominated by bookstore customers, owners, employees, managers, fellow booksellers, publishing professionals, or authors.

Nominations can be made online by completing and submitting a simple nomination form, which asks one easy question: “In 250 words or less, why does this bookseller deserve a holiday bonus?”

The deadline to nominate a bookstore employee for a holiday bonus is November 16, 2022. Your Main Street Reads booksellers eligible for nomination include (in alphabetical order): Eleanor Mead, Shari Stauch, Makayla Summers and Emma Wood, who we’re proud to say won this award in 2020!
