On Saturday we said goodbye and good luck to our very first bookstore “daughter,” Hannah Rose Summers, who enjoyed her last official day at Main Street Reads today before heading to North Greenville University!
We’re going to miss our “singing bookseller” something fierce, but we’re so proud of her accomplishments and maybe one day soon we’ll be calling her Dr. Summers!
Hannah – we all love you to bits – have a joyous time at college and we look forward to you dropping by soon with a full report…
Also on Saturday, author Don Best joined us to celebrate the launch of his new novel, The Gravedigger’s Dream! Thanks to all who attended and yes, we’ll have more signed copies arriving today!
And now, here’s what’s coming up next at your friendly neighborhood bookstore!

Not Vaccinated? Please Mask Up!
Can’t believe we’re going back here again, but thanks to the darned Delta variant, our reader population is once again at risk. Dorchester County’s incidence rate is sadly much higher than any of our neighboring counties of Charleston, Berkely and Orangeburg, so let’s protect our young readers ages 12 and under who can’t get vaccinated yet, as well as those immune-compromised folks.
If you’re not vaccinated, we’re asking you to wear a mask in the store to protect our young readers. If you don’t have one, we’ve invested in them again to provide you with one.
And if you’re vaccinated and want to brag, “I got the vaccine to beat Covid-19” we have free wristbands to let you shout that loud and proud.
For more info on numbers as well as where to get your vaccine or where to get tested, please visit https://scdhec.gov/covid19.
Be safe, and see you soon…
