First, a BIG Main Street Reads THANK YOU! to everyone who came out and supported National Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday. We know you enjoyed the discounts and the free journals and our Super Hero Kissing Booth (we gave away hundreds of Hershey kisses!). We love our local scene and it’s fantastic to see many of you again in person, even with masks on, even from a safe social distance.
On a sadder note, we all mourn the loss of South Carolina native Chadwick Boseman, who brought to life King T’Challa, that iconic Marvel character, the Black Panther. We chose him as one of our favorite super heroes for our kissing booth, and left his image up on Saturday to honor his legacy. From depicting the King, to Thurgood Marshall, to Jackie Robinson and James Brown, he delighted movie-goers across the globe. He will be missed and remembered and revered by so many, including all of us fans at Main Street Reads… RIP Chadwick.
