Thanks for a Spectacular Saturday!

Lots to unpack this week. After being closed Monday for new tile installation in our back storeroom (and flooding fixed, hurrah), we had a full week of events beginning with our great Talk Southern to Me discussion on Monday; Pulpwood Queens book club with the author (Renea Winchester, what a wonderful book Outbound Train turned out to be) on Thursday; a concert on the square Friday (and dad’s 80th birthday!) and our big Saturday on the square… PHEW!

A BIG SHOUTOUT to authors Mary Alice Monroe, Angela May, and Jewel Sweeney for a truly spectacular Saturday celebrating summer reading on the square! The authors signed dozens of books, were generous with their time with fans, and sincerely want to see young readers enjoy reading. Oh, and the weather even held out for the duration of the event – YAY!

From left to right, author Jewel Sweeney, middle grade author Lillian Colette Hughes, and New York Times bestselling authors Angela May and Mary Alice Monroe!

And a shout-out too for young author Lillian Colette Hughes. This recent eighth-grade grad read in our open mic from her published novel (!!!) A Long Winter’s Journey. We look forward to seeing more from this gifted young writer.
