Thanks to all the readers and authors who participated in yesterday’s Independent Bookstore Day. We had a BLAST with authors on the square, and loved being part of a national celebration that included over 1,000 participating stores! Authors were stellar in their panels; I hope to interview them in video clips soon because more of you need to meet more of them; what a talented bunch!!!
And YAY – We still have some uber-cool Independent Bookstore Day exclusive items available – head on over to Main Street because when they’re gone, they’re truly gone. Just One Week ‘Til Patti Callahan Henry!
Best-selling author Patti Callahan Henry is the featured guest at the Timrod Library Summer Author Event on May 7. Patti will discuss her latest novel, The Secret Book of Flora Lea. Patti’s presentation begins at 2 p.m. at the fellowship hall of the Bethany United Methodist Church (right across from the Timrod), followed by an elegant reception (with great food!) and book signing at the Timrod Library.
Tickets are $40 and include the author’s presentation and reception, plus a hardcover copy of The Secret Book of Flora Lea. GET YOUR TICKETS HERE!
Main Street Reads will be the book vendor for this special event and will have other popular titles by Patti available for purchase. HINT: A signed copy of any of these great works make fantastic Mother’s Day gifts – already got some for my mom!
The Secret Book of Flora Lea releases Tuesday and we have plenty at the store – if you have tickets you are welcome to pick up your book before Sunday!
BOOK CLUB DATE CHANGES
Since May is a five-week month, we’re pushing book clubs forward a week so everyone has time to read the new releases. Our Thriller Club, reading Death of a Bookseller that released this past Tuesday, will take place on May 16th. Our Living Large Club that normally takes place on the third Tuesday, will instead be on May 23rd since we’re reading The Secret Life of Flora Lea that releases THIS Tuesday!

The Main Street Writes writers group will meet LIVE in the store. The monthly live gathering is free and open to all; you bring YOU and we’ll bring the treats!
May 1st also begins our School Spirit Week benefitting Spann Elementary School. 10% of sales will go to support our neighborhood elementary school. We’re proud and honored to partner with Spann – after all, today’s readers are tomorrow’s leaders!
