Shelter in Pages – We’ll Keep the Lights On…

As promised, another update as changes continue to unfold in this unprecedented historic moment. Here’s a roundup of what’s going on at Main Street Reads as well as in and around town as we all do our best to keep our social distance and keep serving our community:

Here’s What WE’RE Up To:

  • We’re adding suggested titles to enjoy DAILY on our carefully curated lists at our online ordering page at bookshop.org – We invite you to browse our suggestions or search for any book! And share with us how you enjoy the experience. HINT: Today’s featured list: Picks Are For Kids!
  • We did some redecorating on Sunday, giving you more space to move around and browse (though we’re still limiting visits and will prevent too many from entering the store at any given time, for your safety and that of our booksellers).
  • We now have a way for you to view our most popular 2,500 book inventory items IN STOCK at the store. This list will update every few days to reflect sales of items, and new inventory arriving. If you need to place an order, contact the store during regular hours at 843-875-5171 OR 843-834-1872. View the in-stock list HERE.
  • We’ve placed a big order of new books that will be specially priced (50-70% off) to meet the demand for the categories that have been most requested since “social distancing” became the norm, including:
=== Children’s titles (with no schools or libraries open, bookstores are increasingly becoming an essential service provider for parents
=== Cookbooks (hey, you’re home, now’s the time for that new recipe!)
=== Classics (lots of readers have decided to put those books they’ve been putting off back on their “to-do” lists!
  • On Saturday we’ll be offering signed copies of the adorable adult coloring book, The Art of Etiquette. As of now the author is intending to be here; that may change. Regardless, we’ll be practicing social distancing so we encourage you to call and reserve a copy and tell us how you’d like it personalized. We’ll save one for you and give you a ring when it’s ready for pickup! Learn more HERE.
  • While book events will be few and far between for the moment, LitHub is providing us some home entertainment with their new Virtual Book Channel that will be interviewing great authors about great books. When you see a must-have, let us know so we can grab you a copy!
