A week from today, Yasmin Angoe returns to Summerville and Main Street Reads with a special signing and reception for her new standalone psychological thriller, Not What She Seems. This is a ticketed event – but for LESS than the price of the book you get a signed hardcover book, the reception and meet the author and all the treats that go with our author events!
Tickets are on sale HERE or at the bookstore. Grab them (and your book!) this week; we’re a bit past halfway full, so…
Young Readers Meet Monday
Our Young Reader Book Club is in full swing. Monday’s meetup will include pizza, and a friendly chat about this month’s selection, Escape to the River Sea.
Each club meeting is moderated by local Dorchester 2 teacher, Miss Abby. Book club details are HERE and we look forward to seeing you on Main Street!
Reading People in Your Neighborhood
If y’all haven’t had a chance to meet Miss Leslie yet, she’s our newest addition to the Main Street Reads family and she joins us every other Wednesday for our popular Stories on the Square children’s storytime.
A couple weeks ago, Miss Leslie brought Summerville’s mayor, Russ Touchberry as a guest reader (above). AND this week, she’s bringing Summerville’s fire chief! Be there to meet a real-life local hero, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
If you have a suggestion for a guest reader in our neighborhood, drop us a line at [email protected] – we love bringing books AND a strong sense of community to our newest little readers!
Still Spots Left: Peaceful Mornings
We still have a few openings left for our silent reading morning this Tuesday. Our evening club had to be canceled due to the storm but we’ll have a new response form for September’s meetup in next week’s post.
If you’d like to attend our morning club Tuesday, here are the details and you can register HERE if you definitely will attend.
We’ll have comfy chairs and air-chairs, and readers are invited to bring their own comfort items as well (pillow, wrap, snacks, etc.) Coffee will be provided for the a.m. meeting. Other food/beverages are on your own. (We suggest Cuppa Manna across the square for a morning snack.)
- 7:45 – 8:15 am – you can shop/meet & greet and find your quiet reading spot.
- 8:15 – 9:15 am – no talking, just reading!
- 9:15 – 9:45 am – you can shop, share what you’re reading, or continue reading quietly ’til 9:45.
For more on all our upcoming events, visit our EVENTS page. And we’ll see you soon on Main Street!
