Book Club People Shout Out!
While we’re on the subject of cool people (because, yeah, our booksellers aka book adventure guides are uber-cool people), I need to give a whoop-whoop to our incredibly cool book clubbers. Each month the clubs grow, as do the friendships. So many new members have been new to Summerville, and here, they’ve found common ground that’s led to more fun, way beyond Main Street.
Yesterday, I had the honor to attend one of their shindigs, an afternoon (on into evening) picnic at the home of Lisa Johnson. Lisa provided incredible eats, and everyone brought something to add to the feast. We all got to meet Lisa’s awesome sons and some adorable pups. And best of all, we got to connect more with each other. In a world that’s so plugged in, but so disconnected, it warms me to the core that real connections are happening in our community. Brava, book clubbers, for being the example!
Christmas in July This Week!
We’re all knee-deep in the dog days of summer, so think cool, and join the Summerville community this week on Third Thursday and throughout the weekend for “Christmas in July.” Shops in and around the square will have sidewalk sales and special offers throughout the weekend as we celebrate summer (and clear out summer stock before new fall arrivals!)
Wednesday’s Signing on the Square
We have a visiting author for this Wednesday’s storytime, and a chance to grab a SIGNED copy of her incredible book at a discounted price. Martha will be featured at Stories on the Square and you’re going to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. It’s kid-smart in all the right ways – colorful, insightful, interesting, teaching counting, shapes, and patterns along the way, and it’s FUN!
