We’ve been sooo excited to share August’s big lineup of events, but first – don’t forget about Tuesday’s book club – an incredible work of southern gothic fiction, In the Hour of Crows by Dana Elmendorf. We’re looking forward to discussing this one.
And on Thursday, our big August kicks off with our Fab Fantasy Book Club on August 1st, chatting about Foul Days by Genoveva Dimova! As always, all our book clubs are free and open to all. Snacks are provided and the book club selection is always 10% off. Come hang out with fellow readers and enjoy your “third space” on Main Street.
Speaking of space, we’re doing some minor upgrades beginning August 4th. We’re hoping to keep the construction phase in our after-hours, but please do pardon the mess as we rearrange a few things and improve our displays for your enjoyment!
One of those first displays will be celebrating our local neighborhood theatre’s season opening, August 2nd! Yep, turns out their first show of the 2024-2025 season is “Beauty and the Beast” – we’ll have a wide variety of B&B versions on hand to celebrate this wonderful tale, with a portion of sales proceeds donated to our Flowertown Players, Summerville’s adorable community theatre.
We already grabbed our season tix, and quite coincidentally, it turned out that hubby Jeff was the 600th season subscriber. To our surprise, that got his name on the marquee! Now that’s the kind of 15 minutes of fame we love 🙂 Grab yours here, and we can all enjoy another place we’ll see you on Main Street!
Mark Your Calendars!
Okay, besides the usual lineup of club events, writers groups and storytimes this month (see the lineup at ), we have two very special events you’ll want to block out on your calendars now:
The first is national Bookstore Romance Day. We’ll be celebrating with a dual book signing (Laurie Devore’s The Villain Edit and Marissa Eller’s Joined at the Joints). So, whether you’re into adult romance or YA romance, we’ve got you covered!
More, we’ll be offering free blind dates with a book that to readers who purchase any signed copies. PLUS: we’ll have flowers to give away to show our love for y’all, as well as some sweet treats. Seriously: what says love better than flowers, chocolate and a romance read?! Treats and giveaways all day long, with the authors signing from 2-4 p.m.
Then, on Sunday, August 25th, we have a very special signing and reception when the incomparable Yasmin Angoe returns to Main Street Reads with her fourth novel, Not What She Seems. This is a departure from her popular “Knight” series, a twisty, standalone suspense novel that takes place right in South Carolina.
We’re giving you a heads-up on this event because tickets will go on sale August 1st. Your ticket will include the book, the signing and a meet-and-greet reception with Yasmin. Her Knight series books will also be on sale that day for registered guests. Stay tuned for full details that will release on the 1st…
