What an amazing day at Main Street Reads and we have SO MANY to thank! First, to our brilliant staff: Hannah Rose, Emma and Ashley, who helped in the early a.m. hours with setup and then worked hard all day long to keep authors organized and readers entertained.
Then, to the 16 authors who gave of their time to engage with readers and fellow authors and regale us with tales of their books and their publishing journeys. Each of you were so informative and entertaining – it’s no wonder the lowcountry is a mecca for literary talent!
Third, to our “resident musician” Mike Kaltofen. Not only did he set up his sound system for us and help w/ MC duties all day long, but he entertained with singing and guitar playing up ’til we had to move inside in the afternoon – the rain got more insistent and we had no choice.
And last but certainly not least – a HUGE shoutout to all the readers who helped us celebrate Independent Bookstore Day. Despite the rain, it was a banner day at the bookstore, and we were so thrilled you were there to share in the fun!
For those who didn’t make it out due to weather or conflicts, we’ve kept signed copies from the participating authors, as well as some free items and giveaways, so stop by today – we’ll give out goodies while supplies last!
We’ll be posting a full gallery of the weekend’s photos on Tuesday and will share links on our Facebook page!
CONGRATS Teacher of the Week:
We’re proud that there are several teachers we’ll be announcing in the coming weeks for our Teacher of the Week program. This week we’re honoring Ms. Paula Snell from Spann Elementary School, nominated by fellow teacher Myranda Foether!
Said Myranda in her nomination, “Paula is our Read 180 teacher so she helps kids to struggle with reading. I have seen how she awakens a love of reading in her students. Paula has also been teaching in-person and online at the same time all year. She is a rockstar and a mentor.”
From all of us at Main Street Reads, THANK YOU for everything you do!
